General Purpose: This role is responsible for the Unigraphic design of highly complex components and simple sub-system. Work involves providing design leadership, project management and conflict resolution. Exercise an intermediate level of independent judgment with moderate direction from management. Major Job Duties and
Responsibilities:
Design highly complex components and simple sub-systems
Provide technical design leadership for a major sub-systems
Mentor and coach other designers
Ensure communication between sub-system groups
Verify quality to design team output
Lead design reviews
Assess buildability, manufacturability and integration with Lead Design Engineer and Design Managers
Resolve technical design conflicts
Advise first line supervises of project status, timing, resource availability and capability
Assist in establishing design completion dates
Associates Degree in Automotive Design or Bachelors Degree in Technical Field or equivalent experience
Required training in Unigraphics (UG) with proficiency in basic UG functionality and familiarity with more advanced modeling techniques (i.e., simulation and structures) - 7
years experience
Required Skills/
Experience:
Casting Design experience on Engine Components
Casting Design Knowledge is preferred.
Knowledge of Unigraphic software - Intermediate level
Familiarity with email communication tool (i.e., Yahoo, Lotus Notes)
Strong interpersonal skills involving ability to work effectively cross-functionally and cross-culturally sharing ideas, designs and views
Strong written and oral communication skills necessary for meetings and presentations
Ability to work well with others, exhibiting teamwork skills with other engineers and designers - 7
years experience
Ability to work independently from other designers and engineers but with moderate direction from management - 7
years experience
Strong leadership and mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback to designers - 7
years experience
Strong organization, planning and data management skills - 7
years experience
Knowledge of Computer Aided Design (CAD), Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD & mp;T) principles, part tolerancing and math data management skills - 7
years experience
Advanced ability to identify issues and problems, generate solutions and choose appropriate alternatives using root cause analysis where problems are more complex - 7
years experience
