The Domestic Violence Shelter Youth Advocate position offers a competitive benefit plan which includes medical, dental and vision along with PTO time, sick time, diversity days, and a 401k.
Develop and expand upon already created programing, with content specific to children who have experienced trauma and/or witnessed abuse in the home Develop activities from a variety of modalities for children and parents to participate in Ensure playroom hours of operation meet the needs of both children and parents Facilitate support and empowerment focused groups as-needed Conduct parent interviews with all parents in shelter Attend all case management meetings for support, ideas, and strategies Advocate for children's McKinney-Vento rights while in shelter Assist with school enrollment, including transportation, and other school-based needs Assist children and families in developing age-appropriate safety plans based on their needs Plan, implement and provide transportation to child-focused outings Empower parents regarding healthy parenting strategies Participate in inter-department and agency-wide youth collaboration such as events, activities, volunteer groups, and training Provide mentoring for children in residential setting and youth-focused partners and volunteers Attend youth-focused development activities to advocate for youth program funding Document activities, services provided, and outcomes Complete data entry and reporting documentation Assist with answering the Crisis and Support Line Maintain cleanliness and organization in the playroom and on the playground Attend monthly staff meetings, committee meetings and other meetings as required Cooperate with all other HAVEN programs to achieve organizational goals Have knowledge of organizational goals, services and agency history Inform supervisor of high-risk situations Keep supervisor informed of any deviations in weekly schedule Maintain a system to document grant funded activities Participate in the creation and follow through of DV/SA awareness month activities Seek opportunities to represent HAVEN in sharing skills and knowledge via submissions of journal/publication articles, workshops and presentations Requirements:

Qualifications:
Demonstrated ability to work with children of all ages Ability to work well under pressure and in stressful situations Willingness to learn how intimate partner violence impacts children and parenting Ability to use a strength based, compassionate approach with children who have experienced violence in the home Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays The schedule for this position would be Sun - Thur 12pm - 8pm Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member Required education and
Experience:
A Bachelor's degree in Child Development, teaching or similar degree is preferred Experience in developing and planning children's activities, outings, creative play and projects to meet children's needs Experience in a day care and/or classroom setting Preferred education and
Experience:
Experience with creative play and craft activities Additional eligibility requirements:
Must be at least 18 years old Must possess and maintain a valid Michigan driver's license and an acceptable driving record Must be comfortable driving and transporting residents and their children in an agency vehicle, including a passenger van Ability to assist with general cleaning and upkeep of the shelter Job Type:

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
