Scientist / Metallurgist

Kelly Services has a long-term contract opportunity available for a Scientist / Metallurgist to come and join a top-tier, global automotive company located in Pontiac, MI! As the Scientist / Metallurgist with a company that is committed to excellence, youll be responsible for developing raw material qualification tests for inspection of incoming materials. In this role, you will also be expected to monitor the operation of production equipment and work with manufacturing and plant maintenance personnel in order to set-up and maintain proper maintenance programs. Develop raw material qualification tests for inspection of incoming materials
Develop and implement procedures and controls on chemical/metallurgical processing to ensure the company meets engineering and quality requirements
Develop new chemical/metallurgical processes as needed
Assist purchasing in establishing the specifications for materials of a chemical/metallurgical nature
Qualify and audit facilities and products of local suppliers
Resolve customer complaints of a chemical/metallurgical nature
Work with quality control in making major decisions relating to disposition of questionable products in the chemical/metallurgical processing areas
Assist plant engineering by providing technical information required in the design and provision of services and installation of new metallurgical processing equipment
Additional duties as assigned
Associate or Bachelors degree in Science or Engineering highly preferred
7+ years of experience primarily in the automotive industry
Solid knowledge of current developments in the chemical/metallurgical field
Ability to work with precision and maintain laboratory standards
